“Today it has been 21 years, but we still have memories of the October 1, 1997, demonstration. It was days when students and our young people no longer endured the violence and daily persecution of the Serbian police, as well as the oppression of any political and national right by the Serbian regime. The peaceful demonstration of Pristina University students, with massive support, gave new dynamics to political developments in Kosovo”, Thaci wrote.

These protests are considered one of the most important acts of the day. To disperse the peaceful protest, Serbian police used violence against students and professors.
