Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has hosted a delegation from the Millennium Challenge Corporation, led by James Gerard, Director of the Treshhold Programme, accompanied by Sarah Olmstead, Kosovo MCC Director and Executive Director of the Kosovo Milenium Foundation Petrit Selimi.

Minister Tahiri has announced the MCC delegation for the reforms undertaken, focusing on the joint agenda with the Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, “Justice 2020”, where the MFK and MCC programme are involved in the area of good governance and rule of law, since digitisation of the trial and prosecution are very high priorities.

Therefore, Minister Tahiri has thanked the Millennium Challenge Corporation for their commitment to further professionalising the administration, as the digitalisation modules that are concentrated on citizens are a great help for them to receive better and faster services from the justice system.

Minister Tahiri argued that “Justice 2020”, beyond legal and institutional obligations, puts the citizen in first place, and that this strategic approach taken to find quick solutions for challenges in the sector, aims to strengthen citizens' trust in justice and contribute to transparency and accountability of institutions.

MCC Managing Director James Gerard expressed high concern for the current implementation of the MCC programme in Kosovo and offered full support for achieving the goals of reforms undertaken, with particular emphasis on the rule of law sector. Mr. Gerard unveiled the actual interest in the “Justice 2020”, through consolidation of concrete programmes that help inform, transparency and efficient distribution of justice sector services to citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
