Following the German Ambassador to Kosovo Christian Heldt's reaction and the European Union Office in Pristina, against the bill that enables the importation of old cars up to 15 years, Memli Krasniqi has reacted.
The deputy head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, at the same time chief of the PDK Parliamentary Group, has applied to the writing of the EU Chief in Kosovo, Natalia Apostolova, saying there are greater air pollutings in Kosovo, such as coal for heating. He has recalled that in Kosovo, not all can buy new cars, as foretold by MPs.
“Euro 4 emissions standard based on directives 98/69/ EC & 2002/80/ ECC, so the amendment adheres to EU legal acts. I share your concern over air pollution in Kosovo, but there are worse pollutants, for example. Burning coal for heat. Also, not everyone in our country can buy new” cars, Krasniqi, Apostolova, has replicated.
We remember that the EU Office through the social Twitter network has expressed disappointment at the MP's decision that cars up to 15 are allowed to be imported to Kosovo, saying the bill is contrary to EU laws.
“We are disappointed with the parliamentary Commission for Economic Development's decision to increase the age of cars imported up to 15 years, despite concerns we raised on the MSA Committee last week. This movement would directly influence air pollution in Kosovo and opposes European Union goals”, the EU Office's response said.
The Commission's decision against the Law on Air Protection and is in contradiction with the air pollution framework resolution that was voted on in February this year as top priority at state level”, said in response.
