The study that was published in the <x0--Journal of Sexual Medicine” found that people who hate homosexuals feel attracted to them.
Researchers at the University of Geneva tested a group of people who in previous tests witnessed as homophobes and men who had no negative attitude toward homosexuals.
The researchers wanted to understand, was it true that males who considered themselves homophobic react to their refusal of stimuli, homosexual excitement.
Scientists measured eye movements.
In their experiment, scientists showed people who tested pictures of homosexual and heterosexual nature. In the middle was a straight couple and a homosexual couple. Then there was a human figure moving away from the image.
As the participants looked at the pictures, their eye movements measured. Scientists wanted to understand how long they watched people tested in the middle of the picture.
In a second test, participants had to assess pictures of heterosexual and homosexual couples. Again, scientists measured their eyes on which image they looked longer.
The result was clear: “Burrat with a high negative attitude toward homosexuals, looked at the homosexual couple much longer than the heterosexual couple”, researchers report.
With its discovery, the University of Geneva is not alone. A team of scientists from the University of Rochester in New York, the University of California, and the University of Essex, have found since 2012, that homophobic people are more often gay themselves.
Netta Weinstein, a professor at the University of Essex and leading author of the study, said that these individuals, “, may feel threatened by school and lesbians, because homosexuals, remind them of their similar tendencies. ”
