Today this initiative at the plenary session in the Republic of Kosovo's Parliament was passed in principle.
The post-war justice institutions have hundreds of thousands of pages of evidence and investigation files on war criminals. The only reason for their failure to process has always been Serbia's total refusal to hand over war criminals”, said the LV communiqué.
The bill proposed by the Parliamentary Movement of Vetevendosje Group, which received the support of MPs, paves the way for the Kosovo Republic Prosecutor's Office and the judicial system in general to proceed with the trial and condemnation of war criminals based on evidence which without delay should be reactalised and prepared by institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.
The LV parliamentary group reports it is preparing the legal base and support initiatives for drafting the war crimes documentation bill.
