Patients' rights are not respected in Kosovo either

The Association of Patients Rights in Kosovo has held the international scientific conference “health professional, patient and their rights”, where it was said the patient should be more active and take responsibility, but first he must be helped and empowered.
Attending the opening ceremony was Health Minister Uran Ismajli, who said such conferences should be organised more so that social debates can be made. According to him, real communication between the patient and the doctor is essential for the creation of health policies.
And the host of this conference, Muhamedali Kodra, said that pathological and chronic diseases continue to remain a serious challenge in the health sector, as well as have a high cost.
He also said that those affected need greater services and contact with health professionals. Kodra suggested that these patients be empowered through information and be more active during the healthcare process.
Meanwhile, Dr. Standard Soland from SDC said that through this international conference, they are aiming to accumulate different practices from other countries in order to improve the state of health in Kosovo, in particular for patient rights.
Visual Mujko Nimani from U The NFPA, the NFPA said this organisation supports and Avokos for health care in line with the rights of patients without discrimination. She also said that a goal of them is to fight and eliminate stigmatisation and discrimination committed to gender-based patients and those with sexually transmitted diseases.
Also present was Debra Stevenson of the AQH, who said this organisation has organized various table discussions between patients and their communities, so that they can be informed and shown their needs about what services they need.
Some of the topics to be discussed during panels within this conference are health care with the patient at the centre, patients' rights, health professionals' rights, professional medical ethics, sexual and reproductive health rights, patient safety, etc.
This conference is being held for the first time in Kosovo and aims to bring in better international practices of professional health relations patients.
