A North Atlantic Alliance official has said the position of NATO is clear. NATO supports the development of the Kosovo Security Force under its current mandate.
Kosovo Security Force is a professional force and a source of regional stability. If this mandate evolves, the North Atlantic Council will have to review NATO's level of engagement in Kosovo. It is important that for any initiative regarding the mandate of the Kosovo Security Force, there be full consultation with all communities in Kosovo and with NATO allies”, it is said in response to public television.
NATO, said further, remains committed to Kosovo's security and stability, through KFOR “our longest operation”.
