From today, Montenegro is the 29th country to contribute to NATO's longest and most successful mission, KFOR.
KFOR Commander Major General Salvatore Cuoci chaired today's host ceremony at the Film City Camp, where the Montenegrin Defence Minister Predrag Boskovovic was present.
A staff officer from Montenegro has joined the staff of 28 states who currently have contributing troops in the KFOR mission in Kosovo.
“For a neighbouring country like Montenegro is important to contribute to the quiet and secure environment and freedom of movement in the Western Balkans and choosing to be part of an operation like KFOR is a concrete step towards the normalisation of the region,” said Cuoci.
Otherwise, NATO welcomes any further contributions to KFOR by any member or partner to consolidate stability and security in the Balkans. Montenegro's presence in KFOR is additional support in KFOR's “Sustainable devotion”, said in the KFOR communiqué.
