“Contour Global is on track to ensure the financing of this project from various sources such as state exporter agencies and international financial institutions”, Luka has said.

This response has come after World Bank Group President Jim Young Kim has said that the World Bank will not support the construction of the “New Kosovo thermal power plant in Kosovo.

Kim unveiled the World Bank's position about the 1.3 billion-euro thermal power plant when it was asked by Wisar Azem, executive director of “Balkan Green Foundation” at the World Bank Group's annual meetings and the International Monetary Fund under way in Bali, Indonesia.

“Yes, we have a strong attitude not to go ahead with coal thermal power plants because we've been asked by our biologists to go with the option at the lowest cost and renewable energy now comes down the coal costs. So without any dilemma, we're not doing this”, Kim has declared.

Minister Luka in his response has written that the construction of the Rzova thermal power plant is the most strategic project for his country and economic development since after the war.

So, I assure you that, together with the Contour Global investor, we will work on this project being completed in the previous term”, Minister Luka wrote on Facebook.

He further added that they would not compromise at the expense of state power supply security.

“As minister of this country, responsible for energy, I will not allow Kosovo to depend on importEnergy issues, developing economic activity and employment for other countries, while we have extraordinary potential to generate energy not only for our needs, but also for export”, Luka said.

Minister Luka has stressed that Kosovo must secure energy independence and there is no other option.

“just like we don't have any other options for generating electricity”, Luka is finished.
