Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka hosted today the German Government's responsible co-ordinator for issues and transatlantic relations, and simultaneously member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Peter Beyer, with whom he talked about public enterprises, with particular emphasis on Kosovo Telekom and the “New Kosovo thermal power plant.
Luka said that the MZHE, given the state of Kosovo Telecom, is trying to privatise it within two years and return it to a profitable state.
“While in terms of central public enterprises in general, reforms have been undertaken as well as the new bill, which, among other things, aims to improve their functioning”, he said.
Minister Luka has also talked about the construction of the “New Kosovo plant, about the vital importance it has for local businesses, as well as the work being done on renewable energy projects, where 25% of the energy produced is expected to be achieved by 2020.
Also split was a concern in which, as a result of the failure to implement the Interconction Agreement with Serbia, there are huge losses in the energy sector.
Minister Luka called for Beyer's support in implementing this agreement, which he considered vital for the business and welfare of Kosovo citizens.
