Minister Hoxha optimistic about visa liberalisation by year's end

European Integration Minister Litera Hoxha has participated in the debate organised by “The Association of European Parliaments”, which is being held in Strasbourg, where, in its address, she has demanded that visa liberalisation for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo occur within this year. It has expressed confidence that the most important part [...]
She has voiced conviction that the most important part in which the EU should focus its foreign policy is the enlargement process.
The inclusion of more countries in the European family will enable these countries to achieve not only reforms in the economy but also empower democracy and rule of law. The EU enlargement policy should be seen as a mechanism to make the EU family more complete and sustainable”, Minister Hoxha stressed and added that she expects this to be reaffirmed by EU institutions, as well as for the entire region, a dynamic, concrete and reachable perspective.
The EU has its rules for accession, and Balkan countries still have work to do with substantial reforms affecting the most important sectors, said Minister Done Hoxha, however, the EU should be able to objectively assess achievements and make decisions in line with circumstances and merits.
The EU membership of the Balkan countries would also have a positive impact on the national policy of the states itself by absorbing the best practices and European values”, Minister Hoxha stressed.
During the Austrian presidency, Kosovo expects to close the decision-making process for visa liberalisation, when it is known that Kosovo has met all criteria set out in the guide, and this is confirmed by the European Commission.
Our citizens believe in European values, following the rules and integration values. During the Austrian presidency, we expect unhurt support, especially for the reforms undertaken, reflected in the already adopted joint strategies”, Minister Hoxha stressed.
