By next year the Labour Inspectorate is expected to be added to 15 new inspectors, even though the needs are greater to cover the entire country.
Deputy Labour and Social Management Minister (MPMS) Social, Cerkin Dukoli, also chairman of the National Council for Security and Health at Work, has said they have applied for 15 new inspectors -- a requirement that may not be approved without a budget. He further said that their number, currently 42 inspectors, is small.
“We've requested increased job inspectors, it remains to be seen how much space there will be, really budgetary, so we're hoping that for next year, at least 10 people will be extra, eventually up to 15”.
In addition, we have a recommendation from the Progress Report that needs to increase in terms of security, working health, which should increase the number of inspectors”.
According to him, the most dangerous continues to be the construction sector, among other sectors, however, the deputy minister has indicated that companies are offering conditions based on legal provisions.
“In this regard we have an action plan like the National Council for Security and Health at work, while the latest measures, the inspectors have taken that with mobile teams, actually only in Pristina at the moment are operating eight inspection mobile teams, mainly in the construction sector, while all of our commitments that have been made, whether as inspectors or more, as the council, we have made some sort of identification because the greatest risk is in the construction sector<1>, he told the Economist Online.
The head of the National Council for Security and Health at work has said that during inspection the Labour Inspectorate has managed to impose over 200 fines in the first eight months of 2018 only.
“As I'm informed by the labour inspectorate, in just the last eight months of this year are about 206 fines given”
Meanwhile, he has reiterated that the biggest role in security and health is shared by employers and workers, reports EO.
“Anyway, there are workers and employers who help mostly meet their conditions to raise the level of security and health at work”.
He has announced that a conference in Albania will be held early next year for presenting data to countries in the region in terms of security and health at work.
Between January of this year and October, there have been 98 accidents at the workplace, where 18 people have died and 80 have suffered bodily injuries.
