In an interview for “TV Crete”, Kotzias spoke yesterday for the first time about the Ministry of Foreign Secret Funds and media financing in Albania.
“has leaked a false information as if secret funds have gone to Albania. That's not true. You know what happened? In Albania, who has a positive approach to Greece is accused of being captured. And how is he caught? Says government partner” himself, Kotzias said, bringing to the attention the defence minister's statement, Panos Kamenos, who at the Council of Ministers meeting, said among other things that the Greek “government receives money from Soros to buy foreigners”.
According to the former foreign minister, those who issue false news about the foreign ministry's secret funds are sentenced for “national electricity”. I told them at the government meeting, these are not games. Our country must be serious. These fools, gullibles and traitors, who try to make false news or not where the country's secret funds go, are captured by the articles for national BAR x3>, the former foreign minister said. Greek media, whitewashing the debate between former Foreign Minister Kotzia and Defence Minister Kamenos, at the government's gathering, reported that 1m euros have been paid by the Foreign Ministry only in October for media and portals in Albania.
Kotzias has stated that the ministry's secret budget money mainly financed the Orthodox Church, but also the activities of Greek media are not lacking in the financing of cultural activities, friendship associations between the two countries, especially those of minority, but also of the minority political leaders. It is learned that funding for portals and media in Albania and Macedonia is linked to negotiations the Greek Foreign Ministry has conducted with the two neighbouring countries, both for Macedonia's new name and the maritime border with Albania.
Greece's Foreign Ministry has been trying to create a positive climate in these relations through these financing to sort out critical opposition voices in both countries. During his interview, Kotzias explained the way the Foreign Ministry's secret funds were handled. Kotzias said he as minister decided to draft a law on control of secret funds.
According to him, a ministry service proposes where to give and the proposal goes to Parliament. There has to be a commission from the Parliament's Headship - maybe its composition is actually huge, and these leaks occur in the press. And the fund could be withdrawn from the bank account only if there are separate parliamentary decisions for each of the” proposals, Kotzias said.
