The Kosovo Centre for Security Studies on Wednesday presented the report with the title” against the perpetrators: The new dangers of violent extremism in Kosovo”.
The report said that the number of Kosovo citizens who have travelled to Syria and Iraq has declined dramatically.
No case of Kosovo citizens traveling for Syria and Iraq as part of the terrorist organisation has been reported since 2016.
It is further stressed that the next challenge remains the Kosovo diaspora, where around 20% of Kosovo's 400 foreign fighters born or raised as the second or third generation of immigrants to Western European states. Such individuals were among the most extreme foreign warriors.
In addition, 190 Kosovo citizens still remain in Syria and Iraq. A major role in the failure of Kosovars in these countries has been played by Kosovo Police with their work at the border points.
With the destruction of the so-called Islamic state group, they have changed the strategy by attacking European countries.
