The alleged smuggler was identified on Friday (September 28th) at the border checkpoint on the B2 highway in Mittenwald, with his Kosovo passport and an Italian residence permit, German media write, records Albinfo.ch.ch. His five companions, including two minors, had no documents at all. According to their data, it's about five Syrian citizens.
All six passengers were taken to the federal police station in Rosenheim. There the investigation began with suspicion of smuggling.
During the interrogation, Kosovo initially confirmed that the Syrians had met them at a gas station in Austria and had taken them out of great pity.
During the interview, however, he went into contradictions and finally admitted that everything had been slandered. As federal police investigators have ascertained, Syrian citizens had been in the car since Italy. For their transport to Germany, he allegedly received 1,600 euros.
Syrian citizens were transferred to a refugee shelter. The driver of the car, who has a permanent stay in Italy, has been detained on Saturday by an investigative judge. He will soon have to answer for smuggling foreigners.
