Interpol head Meng Hongwei's wife contacted police in Lyon, the French town where the agency has headquarters, as she has not heard from her husband since he travelled to China on 29 September, Reuters writes.
Research was first reported by French radio 1. Calls to Interpol's spokeswoman did not answer.
The main function of INTERPOL is to ensure a mechanism for police forces in different countries to inform each other of the suspects wanted.
Meng has held several top positions in China, including the deputy public security minister. He was appointed president of Interpol in 2016.
