China has confirmed that it has arrested Interpol leader Meng Hongwei, reports the BBC.
Beijing said he was under investigation by the country's anti-corruption body for violations of the law.
Meng, who is also deputy minister of public security in China, was reported missing after traveling from the town of Lyon to France, where Interpol is located in China.
His family had not heard from him since leaving Interpol headquarters on September 25th. Earlier, his wife, Grace Meng, told reporters he thought he was in danger.
She offered an emotional prayer for international help in finding her husband.
On Saturday, the international police agency asked China to clarify Mr. Meng's status, saying they were concerned about its president's welfare, conveys Kalexo.com.
