Interpol has announced with an official communiqué published in its “Titter” that “has received a request for Meng Hongwei's resignation from the post of President”.
The leftover post will be held temporarily by the vice president of the executive committee, South Korean Kim Ying Yang.
The news comes hours after the announcement from China that Meng has been arrested in his country and that he is under investigation as suspected of “breach of law”.
Interpol President Meng Hongwei's wife discovered that shortly before her husband disappeared, she had sent her a photograph with a knife, which she interpreted as a warning sign.
Meng disappeared since 29 September last, when he launched a direct flight to Beijing. According to the Chinese press, he was arrested as soon as he landed at the airport to be interrogated by Chinese authorities, Albanian is quoted as saying.
Yesterday, Interpol asked Beijing “for the president's fate and France opened an investigation. His “Rasti refers to the international community,” said his wife.
