The International Monetary Fund, in its latest global economy assessment, warned that trade struggle between the United States and China risks making the world “a poorer and more dangerous country”.
The IMF lowered its forecast for global growth this year and next year.
She said the full trade struggle between the US and China would do considerable damage to economic recovery.
IMF lead economist Maurice Obstfeld said further trade barriers would hit families, businesses and the wider economy.
Trade policy “reflects politics and politics remains unstable in some countries, presenting further risks”, Obstfeld said.
The US has charged some Chinese products, worth hundreds of billions of dollars, and US President Donald Trump, has said they are the response to China's “unfair commercial practices”.
Beijing has responded with similar measures to American goods.
As a result, The IMF said global economic growth is now expected to reach 3.7% in 2018 and 2019 down from the previous forecast in July, of 3.9%.
