The largest storm in US history included this area at speeds of 250 miles per hour Wednesday.
At least eight people were confirmed dead in Florida, 5 in Virginia and three in southern Carolina.
Authorities stress that the number of victims may increase because of bad weather in some areas. Residents in Mexico City are ordered to evacuate, but it is suspected that hundreds have not left the country.
