Macedonia's largest opposition party, V MRO- The DPMNE has demanded Prime Minister Zaev's resignation following the referendum on changing the name held last weekend. At the VMRO-DPMNE Central and Executive Committee meeting, among other things it was decided not to recognise the referendum result and form technical government.
“I can inform the opinion that information about the ongoing referendum has been considered, the current political situation and some conclusions about actions for the coming period. The Executive Committee declared the referendum unsuccessful, given the release of only 36 per cent of voters, showed the people's clear will against accepting this”, said Aleksandar Nikolovski, VMRO-DPMNE deputy, adding that if Zaev intends to announce early elections, some conditions must be met in advance.
“It is necessary immediately to respect the agreement and the Law for Elections, where a technical government will be formed under “The Gaser Agreement”, with a 100-day mandate. That means Zaev's resignations, Spasovski and Carovska and the Ministers for Internal Affairs and Labour and Social Policy belong to VMRO-DPMNE in the 100-day term. This alone is the prerequisite for free and democratic elections”, Nikolovski said. /Top Channel
