World Food Day is celebrated by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) annually on October 16 (day when FAO was created in 1945).
This day has been organised since 1981 and aims to sensationalise policymakers on the importance of food and its role in individual health and welfare and the development of all nations.
Each year, the topic is different, but it is always aimed at sensationalising in terms of meeting the Millennium objectives of eliminating hunger and poverty, as well as reducing mortality and improving child health and more sensitive groups.
For a Good Food
The role of feeding on one's health is well - known throughout his life, ranging from before a child's conception to old age. The earlier the application of recommended feeding practices begins, the healthier the individual will be throughout his life.
Balanced and appropriate food combined with regular physical activity is the cornerstone of good health and at the same time effective tools for preventing many diseases and treating others. Providing a healthy and secure diet during the early years of life has benefits for life.
Malnutrition occurs when the body does not receive the necessary amount of energy (calority), proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and other items needed to keep its body healthy and its good operation. Malnutrition in infants and young children is a key factor not only in infant and child mortality but also affects physical and mental development at very young age.
Over 6 million people have died this year alone because of hunger and food shortages. More than 850 million people in the world do not have enough food. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO has tried to meet the 50 - percent reduction target within 2015 of the number of people affected by the world's hunger.
