European Union spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic has told Radio Free Europe that the European Union is interested in a comprehensive process in transforming the Kosovo Security Force into the military.
The European Union remains committed to Kosovo's development and prosperity as an integral part of the Western Balkans agenda. The European Union has always called for a comprehensive process leading to harmonisation of legislation in transforming the Kosovo Security Force, in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo and by counting on the interests and concerns of all communities in Kosovo, as well as relevan partners, ethnicities, organisations”, Kocijancic said in a written response.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Assembly has approved in principle The three bills proposed by the government to transform the Kosovo Security Force.
Through these three bills, the Kosovo Security Force is intended to be transformed into an additional capacity force, including defence responsibility, but without affecting its name.
The NATO Alliance has indicated that it has given up persistent demands that for any change in the mandate of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) constitutional changes are necessary.
