Turkey has sent troops to Syria in August 2016 to clear a border zone from fighters belonging to the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant.
It launched an operation earlier this year in the northern Syrian enclave in Africa to bring down Kurdish fighters linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Erdogan agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin last month to create a demilitarised <x0zone” between the rebel fighters and the government in northern Sirinq.
