The head of the United Nations has requested “truth” for the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Secretary General Antonio Guterres told the BBC he feared such disappearances would occur regularly and become normal.
Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi government, disappeared on 2 October after visiting his consulate in Istanbul.
Saudi Arabia says the charges of ordering his murder are “lying”.
Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz said on Friday that the kingdom was also ready to uncover “the entire truth”, but added that the charges that had been issued that Arabia ordered the killing of Khashoggi were “baseless”.
A Turkish security source told the BBC that officials had audio and video evidence that the journalist, who writes about the Washington Post, was killed inside the consulate.
US President Donald Trump, who sought to build good relations with Saudi Arabia, pledged to reveal the truth.
Trump told CBS News that Saudi Arabia would receive “severe punishment” if it comes out responsible for its disappearance.
