Democratic League of Kosovo Secretary-General (LDK) Ismet Beqiri has said the party's interest in him is greater than personal.
In an interview for “Dosier D”, he has said he personally does not want to receive 50,000 or 100,000 votes in the election, criticising the party chairman.
I have not put my personal interest and I do not want 50 thousand or 100,000 votes attacking my party, not supporting my leader, who is party leader, or supporting party decisions. This is my principled stance”.
Beqiri says he himself has personally opposed the coalition with the PDK, but the party's bodies have decided otherwise and he has accepted these decisions.
“I have considered that at the time there was no need to be a coalition with the PDK, a decision was made by the party (LDK) and I respected ... if we asked today, my opinion is that I am against the coalition with PDK”, he said.
The LDK Secretary General has said that despite the fact that the party has capacities and it is fair to have more candidates for chairmanship, working in the LDK is a major responsibility.
It is democratic to have ambition for the mayor, but it should not be so difficult because they can get tired then... to say honestly, everyone should not think they can do the work of the LDK's first, because we are serious parties”, Beqiri further declared.
