The US reacted angry after the blow from The Hague International Court. Now all agreements in co-operation with the International Court will be verified. The American president's security adviser John Bolton has praised the decision of the “court politically instrumentalised and inefficient.” The U.S. will not sit back when The Hague makes unwarranted decisions and politically motivated charges are brought against it. The United States.
The International Court in The Hague announced on Wednesday (03.10) that the US must lift part of the sanctions against Iran. This applies to measures the American government took on May 8, 2018. The International Court judges' argument: Some sanctions directly affect Iran's civilian population. Sanctions should not affect exports of basic material goods, such as medicine, food or equipment that ensure air flight safety. So for example, Iran's civilian air transport should not be affected by sanctions, the judges decided.
In principle, the US did not introduce these drugs and foods to the sanctions list, but Iran is unable to provide them due to severe conditions for financial transfers with this country. Therefore, the International Court issued the verdict Wednesday (03.10), though it is a preliminary decision, because closure of the case may take years.
Iran welcomed the International Court's decision Wednesday. “The decision was a recognition of our legitimate stance”, the Foreign Ministry said in Tehran.
US Rejects International Court Decision
The decision under international law is binding. But since before the US had declared, they did not call this court responsible for the case. The International Court is the United Nations Tribunal for regulating international disputes. His decisions are indeed binding, but this instance has no means of making decisions. Both the US and Iran have repeatedly ignored the court's decisions.
The US unilaterally resigned from the deal with Iran and imposed sanctions against the Islamic republic in May. These may violate a 1955 friendship agreement between the two countries, the court said. This should be clarified legally- until then, the US must give up sanctions that are most threatening. When the main session on this issue begins, it has not yet been determined.
