The former Socialist Party deputy was dismissed several weeks ago from office and was arrested this Sunday on charges of involvement in passive corruption during the time at the head of Albanian prisons.
The decision to sack Chuko from prison direction argued that the movement was made to improve work in this institution, particularly in terms of increased efficiency and the fight against corruption.
“is removed from the post of Director General of Prisons, Mr. Arben Chuko and Mr. Stefan Chipa. The change is made to improve the work of the Directorate General of Prisons, especially in terms of increased internal security and control, as well as increased efficiency of the fight against corruption in the prison system. ” was written in the Justice Ministry's announcement.
The warrant has been executed this afternoon, and Chuko currently stands in the premises of the capital's Police Directorate.
Arben Chuko was the SP deputy and the office of prison director took over in July last year, thus replacing Arjan Hodza, who was appointed to the post after the Rama-Basa agreement.
