Vice Chairman of the Assembly: Adoption of demarcation is inevitable

Kosovo Deputy Speaker Xhavit Haliti continues to insist that the adoption of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro is inevitable. And on the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj had warned days ago that the Government will bring to the country a version of the demarcation, which will be acceptable to both sides, giving no details about this version. On January 15th, the Foreign Affairs Commission will hold the next meeting, where it will review the Demarket Bill, which is expected to be voted into office at the Assembly session for approval.
This is after the State Commission for Demarketation, appointed by Prime Minister Haradinaj, has presented some new facts that may influence the Kosovo-Montenegro Border Demarketing Agreement.
Kosovo Deputy Speaker Xhavit Haliti told the newspaper “Zeri” that they are waiting for the Commission for Foreign Affairs' decision. But he has once again called on that if he does not have votes to pass this issue does not go to the polls.
We're waiting for the Commission, if the Commission is passed, the demarcation comes to the Headship and the Headship will set the date. But I remain at what I said earlier, that if Demarkation doesn't have the votes to vote and to get passed as a problem, then it's best not to be put to the polls, because if we get the votes to pass and put it in a vote we make a huge mistake”, he said.
Haliti considers the issue finished after saying the agreement was signed by representatives of the Kosovo people. According to him, Kosovo would do well to accept this agreement in order not to undermine relations with Montenegro.
“Foreign and Interior Ministers have signed the Agreement on behalf of Kosovo and in the presence of internationals. If the signature was set on behalf of the state and if you had authority, then the matter is finished. Now Montenegro is a member of NATO, and when we take that into account the interest of Kosovo is that with Montenegro we have good reports and not to enter the spectrum of conflicts”, Haliti said.
In favour of completing decision-making about the Demarketing Agreement with Montenegro, signed since August 2015, MPs, who do not rule out even the possibility of ratification failing, say. But, they say, the important thing is that the issue is no longer suspended and an answer is received from the Parliament.
