MA UNMIK begins drafting curriculum for pre-school institutions

From estimates about this age of children, the new programme has been estimated to affect the learning and formation of children's skills. Presiding preschool institutions express the necessity of such a document, which would greatly help educate this age.

Pre-school Institute Director “Whitea”, Gezim Rexhepi, told Radio Kosovo that it is necessary for every garden to have a basic document drafted by experts for educators to base on it, and to raise the level of knowledge and skills for this age.

“This document is not only now, but it has been necessary long before there is a basic document. For the age of zero to three years it was necessary, to work and design something unified. The gardens should have a basic document on which educators should be based, document that field experts” have worked on, Rexhepi said.

Meanwhile, Division for Pre-school Education Leader at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Irrane Ramadani, told Radio Kosovo, that this document has lacked education of this age. This new programme plan will help educate children even at other levels of schooling.

There's something that's been missing from zero to three years. It's something new to design the curriculum for that age. These knowledge will help reach children's reachability even at other levels of schooling. Investment in early childhood is the best and most essential investment of a state that will also contribute to the rise of the quality of education in general”, Ramadani said.

In September 2018, piloting this programme will begin in several pre-school institutions in Kosovo. After the pilot, the assessment will be made, and if there are results, it will continue with the implantation of this plan in all pre-school institutions. /Periscopi/
