Turkey proposes EU a formula for visa liberalisation

Turkey will present a draft document to launch a visa liberalisation dialogue with the EU. The document's draft has proposed access to the issue concerning anti-terrorism laws through “formula of a working group of Ankara and Council of Europe ( CoE,” said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu for “Hurriyet Daily [...]
Cavusoglu said the work recently carried out by the ministers does not provide for a change in Turkey's anti-terror law, as it could bring weaknesses in the country's fight against terrorism. Even if it does not bring vulnerability to practice, a change in the nature of the relevant “legislation could create an image of weakness,” he said.
The ministers have handed a draft to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and the government to introduce Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to give his final word if Ankara is to pass the document to the European Commission, the Persiscope broadcasts.
Citing seven dialogue standards for visa exclusion, the government's status draft has adopted several EU proposals, while refusing some. Ankara has proposed its formulas for several other criteria, according to the minister.
We cannot make a difference in the anti-terrorism law at this moment. Even the EU has taken further measures regarding terrorism,” said Cavusoglu. /Periscopi/
