Cavusoglu said buying this system was necessary and that Turkey's “urgently needed”.
On the other hand, this acquisition has caused great concern among Turkey's NATO allies, when Ankara officially announced this acquisition on December 27th.
But, Cavusoglu told the agency yesterday The DPA that “wanted us to buy this from our allies in NATO, but that didn't work out” and added that “Russia gave me the best deal and that's why I bought it from Russia”.
The $2.5 billion deal is still on the move, as the question of technology transfer is not yet complete, Cavusoglu said.
According to him, the first supply of missile system from Russia will take place in 2020.
