“We have seen a significant increase in efforts to intervene in internal political crises. They have grown in volume and complexity”, Stoltenberg told the media after several meetings with Spanish government chief Mariano Rajoy and Defence Minister Maria Dolores de Costello.
“We have discussed reports we have seen about Russia's efforts to intervene in many countries, including Catalonia”, he continued.
Any outside intervention is unacceptable. We take very seriously and it is because NATO has reinforced its cyber defence”, the NATO secretary general stressed.
The Spanish government condemned in November a dezinformom campaign on the crisis caused by the efforts of the Catalan Indian Indian parties to secede from Spain, with messages on social networks derived mainly from Russia's territory, but also Venezuela.
