It has been ten days since the assassination of Serbian civic initiative chairman “Liberty, Democracy, Justice” (SDP) in Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic. He was shot by unidentified persons with firearms in front of his party headquarters in northern Mitrovica.
The outcome of this case is being sought by that day by all Kosovo institutions, as well as those of Serbia.
In fact, the Kosovo Ministry of Justice has accepted a request from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia for mutual judicial assistance in the case of “Ivanovic”, whose request has been granted to the Prosecutor for Organised Crime of the Republic of Serbia.
Kosovo Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has accepted this request, which has confirmed that he has already seen Serbia's demands.
We have received requests from Serbia, but because of sensitivity we cannot make it public. I have conveyed their requests to the chief prosecutor of the case, in this case two prosecutors who handle this case, and now every exchange of information will go through two ministries -- the Kosovo and Serbia” -- Tahiri said of Indexline, repeating that the contents cannot be disclosed to the public.
He has stressed that for some demands, they have already responded to Serbia's institutions, which are urgently seeking to resolve the mystery of Ivanovic's murder.
I have received requests from the Serbian prosecution through the justice ministry there, and I have forwarded them to prosecutors who are in charge of the case. We have returned an answer to them until some other matters remain to be returned later because they were not yet available. Communication and co-operation will continue through two ministries in terms of this case, Tahiri has said further.
We remember that the murder of Oliver Ivanovic is being investigated by a team of two prosecution prosecutors, Nijazi Rexha and Jova Radovic.
Kosovo police have indicated that until this phase of investigations, there are still no suspects in the case in question, but that investigations are under way with an intensity added by competent authorities.
Ivanovic's murder brought Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, to Kosovo last weekend, who held meetings with Serbs living here.
Also, on the day Ivanov was killed, the Serbian delegation cancelled the next round of talks with Kosovo, warned to be held in Brussels.
