The name issue, which is blocking Macedonia on the road to the EU and NATO membership, appears to be very close to a solution.
There are actually five names proposed by the special envoy of the United Nations Organisation, Matthew Nimic, for Macedonia's new name. According to Macedonian media, these proposals have been announced to negotiators, Adamantios Vasilakis and Vasko Naumovski.

On the other hand, Secretary General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, during a visit to Skopje on Thursday, briefly ruled out the possibility of Macedonia's entry into NATO unless the name issue is resolved.
