The mayor of the Gennevilleiers, Patrice Leclerc, a municipality located in northern Paris, announced in a written statement that he has recognised the state of Palestine.
The statement is reminded that in 2014 The parliament of France and the Senate have adopted the draft resolution, which recommends that the government recognise the independent state of Palestine. The statement is also reminded that then French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has declared that if in two years there will be no result from the peace meetings between Israel and Palestine, then his country will recognise Palestine as an independent state.
Noting that peace hopes in the region are being placed on dynamite with the US president's decision on the Kuds, as well as Israel's decision to build fallen settlements on conquered lands, it is said that “Patrice Leclerc invites all municipalities to recognise the state of Palestine”.
Vice President Emmanuel Macron opposes recognition of the state of Palestine, but if thousands of municipalities officially make a decision in such a direction, then France will also be obliged to recognise Palestine”, the statement is further said. The decision, which will be signed Monday and formalised, is expected to be accepted by other municipalities.
