The modern Italian flag was first used on January 7, 1797.
The flag consisting of 3 strips equal to vertical, three-colored; white, red, and green, where white represents snow - covered Alps; green represents the country's fields and hills; red, blood poured out in Italian wars for independence.
Another interpretation is that green represents hope; white faith, and red godly love.
These colors also refer to three theological virtues; faith, hope, charity. /Kosovo pres/
