Education Minister Shyqi Bytyqi said that in the continuation of reforms this minister is planning with expert opinion, the possibility of a state pre-student exam is seriously being considered.
After completing the exams of a certain program and obtaining a diploma, this is the first expert discussion... we have a law that requires a state exam for adjusted professions, but we're trying to change it, introduce it to all professions”, Bytyqi told Calco.
Bytyqi also made public the idea that diplomas received in institutions of higher education are classified according to quality.
If they don't take any steps we're not going to stand in vain, take concrete action, one of the measures expected to be, we're working on the Law on Higher Education, we're going to take a state exam. The first idea is that you can classify your student. So somebody could have a equivalent degree 1 and 2 other type of diplomas at the lowest level”, Bytyqi said.
The Bytyqi, who took up the post of Minister of Education nearly five months ago, has also tabled the project to reduce six Kosovo universities to only two.
The six public universities that exist in Kosovo were established in the time of former Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, while this is considered hasty action by Minister Bytyqi.
“What's in the past at the opening moment, without wanting to discuss why all these universities have opened up, there has not been an assessment of the needs of opening public universities... and when things are done without appreciation there is a big risk that things don't work”, Bytyqi said.
