A total of 1,921 companies were registered in the fourth quarter of 2017, or 13.3 per cent in comparison to the previous quarter, the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) has announced today. In the newest report on companies in Kosovo for the fourth quarter 2017, it is also said that compared to the same quarter of 2016, there is a decline in companies registered for 14.7%.

The favorite economic activities during this quarter were trade with 511 companies registered (26.6%); accommodation and food services activities with 183 registered companies (9.5%); construction with 180 companies registered (9.4%) etc.

The category of the number of employees from 1 to 4 constitutes 846 companies, or 96.1% of registered companies; category 5 to 9 employed with 47 companies; or 2.4% of registered companies; categories of 10 to 19 employed by 18 companies or 0.9% of registered companies; categories of 20 to 249 employed with 10 companies or 0.5% of registered companies; while 250+ employees do not have any companies registered during this quarter.

As for the geographical alignment of registered companies at the level of municipalities, Pristina prevails with 643 registered companies (33.5%), Prizren 147.7%), Ferizaj 146.6%), Gjilani 117 (6.1%), Peja 116 (6.0%), Mitrovica with 75 registered companies (3.9%), while other municipalities have smaller numbers of companies registered in this quarter.
