Although the Energy Regulatory Office has provided a large number of power-building licenses, few of these projects have begun to be realised, KTV reports.
Civil society has accused institutions of inaction. According to them, the situation will only be changed with reforming production licenses in this area, as there are fanatic companies that have obtained licenses blocking the licensing of other serious companies.
Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka acknowledges this failure. He has announced that pressure will increase on companies holding licenses, while there will be changes in the way of giving licenses.
The same one has confirmed that he is not planning to issue, in terms of granting licences for hydro power plants, for which there have been protests on nature degradation.
Although the minister has achieved a project for construction of the Zhur hydropower plant, he has indicated there has been no movement in that direction.
