January 28th marks the European Day of Personal Data Protection, known as International Private Day.
This day is part of the right to privacy, as one of human rights and basic freedoms.
January 28, 1981, is the date for signing the Convention for individual protection in connection with automatic personal data processing.
25 years later, in 2006, this date has been symbolically chosen as the European Day of Personal Data Protection. Personal data is processed in many aspects of daily life, such as opening a bank account, booking online of a ticket, travel, buying a SIM folders, and so on.
Protecting the right to privacy is guaranteed with the European Convention for Human Rights. Commissioner for Information Rights and Personal Data Protection in Albania Besnik Dervisi is the commissioner responsible for overseeing the legitimacy of data processing.
