Hoyt Yee repeated the statement that the Serbs did not like: Place in which seat

A statement by US Assistant Secretary of State Bryan Hoyt Yee that Serbia cannot sit in two chairs simultaneously, alluding to the double game between Russia and the EU had sparked harsh reactions in Serbia. Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic had complained about this statement even directly to US Secretary of State Rex Tyler. He had even mustered up the courage to shoot “over” about who had to make decisions in US foreign policy, the Metro.net newspaper reported.
“I drew attention to that the changes in American politics should only be made by the president, vice president and foreign minister, given that representatives of the old establitor cannot do so because they defend their policy of 1990”, Daci said of short conversation with Tillerson at the O Council of Ministers meeting SBEWS in Vienna.
Serbia can have better relations with America only if it focuses on Trump and his administration. When I say that, I think about Tillerson and Pens, not the State Department. Because in the State Department, people still work that have written down everything that's happened in the last 2030 years. They didn't change their mind”, he was saying.
On Thursday, the very person who holds high positions in State Department, Brian Hoyt Yee, has repeated his statement, even though in a milder version.
“We are considered friends and partners of Serbia, and true friends are not the ones who speak what you want to hear, but what you need to hear”, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Euro-Asi quoted the Metro.net.
I think that as friends and partners of Serbia, we should clearly tell Serbia that it has the opportunity to speed up the process towards the EU. This is not our decision, but Serbia's. They have to decide which seat they want to sit in, I think they have to decide how to go faster before”, Yee said.
Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabyc said days ago that Serbia would not give up relations with Russia to speed up the road to EU membership.
