Health sector is most challenged by privacy violation

The director of this agency, Jeton Arifi, spoke about their commitment during 2018 to protecting personal data in the health sector. Likewise, the awareness of citizens of their rights has been the purpose of this agency.
Furthermore, Health Ministry representative -- at the same time the director of the Health Insurance Fund, Fatmir Plakiqi -- has talked about the dedication this minister has in respecting the right to the privacy of patients from medical staff at the country level, as well as inter-initiative co-operation with the ASHMDHP. You see the state of privacy in health as a complex issue.
This sector is mostly challenged by privacy violations, given the fact that the system itself is central to the patient. In co-operation with the State Agency for the Protection of Personal Data, the Health Ministry has appointed officials responsible for the ministry and general hospitals to implement personal data protection obligations”, he stressed.
It has also shown this year's focus on informing both the public and the health personnel of the privacy protection law and raising the level of privacy in health.
Participants at this conference were also human rights co-ordinator Julia Jacoby of EU offices, which has expressed readiness to co-operate with the ASHMDHP.
Afterwards, State Agency for Personal Data Protection Director Bujar Sadiku has unveiled the recent development of single authority, tasked with overseeing the enforcement of law in privacy.
I think the Agency in this year, the priority will have health, providing advice, training, and monitoring the work of the weedmen with the only intention of our citizens receiving medical services without being concerned about the safety of their data, which they deposit during their presence in different areas or elsewhere in health institutions”, he said.
Data protection inspector from Albania, Edrin Fidh, from the Commissioner for Information and Protection of Personal Data, who has shared their practices or experiences in collaboration with the health sector. He presented this experience through a brief statistical presentation.
“Four main tasks we've envisioned in the concrete case, which is: guaranteeing the obligation to inform data subjects, we found that most public and private controllers don't inform patients of the rights they have in terms of sensitive data. This is very important because it enables patients to defend themselves, as the first element, and then address the commissioner's office”, he said.
The State Agency for Protection of Personal Data, as an independent institution, has the legal responsibility for overseeing the implementation of regulations for protecting personal data. This agency will also mark the seventh anniversary of its establishment in June this year.
