Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj participated in launching the National Children's Protection Index 2.0, organised by the Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection - COMMF.
According to the Prime Minister's Office communiqué, Hardinaj thanks to the NGO coalition for the protection of children, said today's event proves an elevated awareness of civil society in Kosovo. Adding that it has been a sensitive situation for children, in the post-war 18 years of Kosovo, this situation that has probably made the children's rights and institutional attention impossible.
Despite this, Kosovo is set to rely on international norms and agreements on children's rights, and for that it is ready and committed, including the 1989 Children's Rights Convention. It is on the map of the Child Protection Bill, and it is also on the map Strategy and the National Action Plan for Children's Rights”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said, adding that these are legal standards, with which the work of the country's Government does not end, but begins, so continued implementation.
The government has made efforts to prevent and protect children from wrong exposure, such as the case of narcotics in schools, but that there is still work to be done in this regard. Another concern is the lack of nests not only in rural areas but also in urban areas.
I am aware that without the work of all of us, children's rights, protection, greater social and institutional awareness and all other mechanisms, there is no improvement in children's lives”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said.
Donjet Kelmendi, executive director of NGO Child Protection Coalition - KOMF said the Index praises five dimensions of government action for each of the provisions referring to child protection. These five dimensions are policy and law, services, capacity, coordination and accountability.
