Even on Saturday evening, dawn and Sunday, Tirana's street police were on hand to ensure safety on the streets and avoid accidents.
This, as Saturday follows, finds youth outside until the early hours of the morning. Not all are correct and respect the rules of the road. Of the checkpoints police have established in the capital's key areas, there have been many drivers who have been banned in the conditions of alcohol consumption. Others, however, have broken the speed limit allowed in the inhabited area. The radar, which effective road workers have been controlling this evening, has caught many carefree drivers at speeds from 80 km/h to 100 km/h.
For speeds beyond allowed standards and for direction of the drunk vehicle, police operate by taking the driver to the commission, where the time is set for how many months the driving permit will be lifted.
Police have repeatedly appealed to drivers to be careful in such cases, where they have been advised to use public transportation vehicles in case of alcohol consumption.
