The Netherlands and Belgium have peacefully regulated their borders by exchanging territories. It's about a territory the size of 27 football fields, as an attempt by two states to solve a police problem at the border.
The change of borders began after a criminal event occurred four years ago, when a headless body was found in the area where changes of borders occurred. It's about a peninsula in the river and it's hard to get there because of its geographic position. Four years ago, Dutch authorities could not legally investigate the crime that had occurred because it was not in their jurisdiction, although geographically they were closer to it.
Meanwhile, Belgian police had difficulty going to the crime scene, and they had to make constant use of vessels because of their geographic position. This problem has already been solved, and police competencies for the peninsula control have been overcome by Dutch authorities. According to Belgian Foreign Minister, the agreement between the two states stipulates that they can peacefully exchange their borders.
