The hackers have stolen 433m euros worth of kritomonese in one of Japan's largest digital exchanges.
Coincheck, based in Tokyo, said 523 million NEM currency exchanges were sent to another account about 3am Friday morning.
The exchange has suspended deposits and withdrawals for all cryptomoneds except Bitcoin.

Coincheck says he has a digital address to which stolen cryptomoneds were sent and it's watching if it's possible to restore assets.
A non-recognition representative who was not given the name said the Coincheck might not be able to restore losses, said Japan news agency Kyodo.
The company is examining how many clients have been affected by this theft. Japanese broadcaster NHK said Coincheck reported the incident to the police and Japan Financial Service Agency.
Coincheck, which has main offices in Shibuya, was founded in 2012 by Yusuke Otsuka and Koichiro Vada.
The incident is believed to be the world's largest cryptova peace theft. Another exchange rate, MtGox, collapsed in 2014 following a 470m-euro theft.
