In an open letter, Gracie, who works at the BBC for more than 30 years, has accused the corporation of having a “secret and illegal wage culture”.
She said the BBC was facing a “crisis of confidence”, after it was found that two-thirds of its stars that earn more than 150,000 pounds were males.
But the BBC has announced there was no “systemic discrimination against women”.
Gracie said she left her post as editor of the Beijing corporate office last week, but will remain at the BBC further.
She said she would return to her former post in television editorials if paid equally. /Kosovo pres/
