The European Centre for Human Rights is concerned by continuing efforts to undermine the work of the Special Chambers.
Chambers, in particular, are an important part of Kosovo's commitment to rule of law, human rights and Kosovo's work to address crimes committed during the war.
The ECHR has called on the Government of Kosovo to focus on improving human rights, on rule of law and not on threatening democracy and increasing corruption, the Government of Kosovo must be the Democratic Government, which focuses on European Integrations and on respect for human rights. War crimes which will be handled by the Special Chambers is a time when Kosovo will testify to respect for human rights.
“The ECHR and its international partners from around the world will provide full support to the European Union Office and members of the Quint states in Kosovo for full implementation of activities around the Special Chambers”, a media communiqué reported.
The Kosovo government must be very careful about the steps and actions it will take during 2018. The Kosovo government should also consult any decision regarding the Special Chambers with the European Union Institutions in Brussels, and should also co-ordinate activities with the states of Quintus in Kosovo.
The ECHR demands from the Office of the President, the Government of Kosovo and MPs to ban any activity to abolish specific Doms. The Kosovo government should be more co-operative and open to co-operation with international justice institutions.
