The worst “is that most states are refusing to consider any solution to slow down this coming demographic catastrophe”, says a UN report, writes Periscope.
“Top 10 states that are contracting the population more recently are in Eastern Europe (and some in Central and Northern Europe), the UN forecasts say. Bulgaria, Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia, Poland and Hungary are estimated to contract by about 15 percent in the population by 2050”, this prediction is said.
Bulgaria leads on this list as the world's fastest population contraction “state”. It is expected that the Bulgarian population will drop from 7 million people in 2017 to 5.4 million by 2050.
According to the UN, in Serbia, the population will decrease by 15 percent by 2050, in Croatia to 17 percent, and in Ukraine to 18 percent.
“in 2016, the rise in European population has been reduced because of immigrants”, has written cz.com, adding that “as the birth and death toll rates have been equal to 5.1 million each, immigrants have increased the population to 1.5 million, leading to 511.8 million. ”
“Adoption of migrants seems like a proper solution to Eastern European demographics, but the issue is politically toxic”, the site has written. /Periscopi/
